Foster Weekend Retreats
The Foster Weekend Retreat is a youth weekend planned to be a source of fun, recreation, and mentorship while also providing an opportunity for youth in foster care to experience some life skills training. Camp Ara will provide opportunities for campers to learn about nutrition and cooking, personal property and vehicle ownership, personal financial management, and future career options and how to get there. While some foster youth are able to be poured into by foster families, right now in West Virginia there are 7,000 kids in the foster care system looking for permanent placement, and this population needs relationships and opportunities to be equipped for the future.
Who is eligible?
The Foster Weekend Retreats are for youth actively in the local foster care system, ages 11-17. This program will be of no cost to the individual camper.
