Spring Survival Retreat
May 14th - 16th
This retreat is designed to help prepare you for an emergency situation where you find yourself in the wilderness lost or unprepared for what nature could throw at you. Through classroom and hands on learning, these three days will be jam packed with first aid, shelter, fire building, and other survival skills taught by Camp Ara's very own Eagle Scout and 20 year Navy Veteran, Andrew Curtis.
This is not your normal "glamping" weekend, early rise, and long days will result in an undoubtedly memorable experience coupled with skills we hope you never have to use.
How to prepare: The scenario of the weekend is you have been day hiking in an unfamiliar area. You realize that the guide book was wrong, you have lost your bearings, and the reality of not making it out of the woods before nightfall sets in. So think of the supplies you would have packed in your day hike bag. Camp Ara welcomes you to bring any and all of those that you can fit into that back pack. However, our twist on minimal supplies and making the most of the weekend will add a degree of difficulty. You will be reducing those items based on your choices after classroom and peer discussion before hiking into the woods.
We hope to see people with varying levels of survival experience so that we can all learn from one another and all walk away with gained experience, new relationships, and memories that will last a lifetime. We can't wait to see you there!
Cost per person is $145.00 for the weekend. This includes all of your meals, accomodations, and activities.
Must be 12+ years old if accompanied by an adult. 18+ to participate unaccompanied.
